The British Compressed Air Society (BCAS) recently announced that it had made the decision to make all its publications free to download from its website www.bcas.org.uk in the “Knowledge Base” section.
One of the newly made available documents for free download is a best practice guide for the Food & Beverage industry, BPG 102.
Best Practice Guide (BPG102)
BCAS prepared the best practice guidelines with input from the BRC (British Retail Consortium) to give useful guidance and allow for informed decisions on what type of compressed air equipment is required, how it should be installed, maintained and the purity levels required.
Following this best practice guideline in association with the food/beverage industry requirements to apply the pre-requisite programme and where applicable HACCP process will ensure that the compressed air system will not only meet current industry best practice but also contribute to increased customer confidence in the food supplied to market.
Training Material For Food Producers (TM21U)
The best practice guide for food producers is a handy guide to contaminants and their sources and how to handle them with compressed air treatment.
Compressed Air Industry (TM23CAI)
This document provides background information on food industry legislation, and the practices to be adopted throughout the management process in a Q&A format.
Topics covered include:
- Codex Alimentarius
- EU Food Regulations
- Basic Hygiene Requirements
- How to Implement a Guideline
- Compressed Air Purity
- Food Safety Management
- The EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group)
Auditors Briefing Notes (TM22A)
The Auditors briefing notes are intended to assist the auditor in understanding compressed air issues. This information should be used in conjunction with the BCAS Best Practice Guideline, BPG 102 and the Training material for food producers.
